“If you can’t say anything nice……..” ( to quote Thumper’s Mum)

After a couple of very abusive phone calls, I feel I need to point this out (from our Forum's description of what LL does) :

********************************************************************

"The aim of Lurcher Link is to HELP LURCHERS IN DISTRESS.....and the purpose of Lurcher Link is to act as a point of contact for rescues, dog wardens, vets, stray centres and the public and also as a rescue in itself...."

***********************************************************************

This does not give ANYONE the right to be rude / abusive if the answer they are given is not what they wanted to hear.

If you have adopted a dog from another rescue, you need to contact that rescue and get their permission for us to share their details. I don't want someone to rehome a dog from a private rehoming and then find an angry rescue demanding they give them the dog back, it's upsetting for everyone.

We don't have a Tardis for a kennels, if I say we have no room, it means we have no free space to bring in a dog - especially if it's one which doesn't like other dogs. I don't want the dogs we have here to get caught up in fights.

If you have a dog which is biting people, YOU need to take responsibility for it and seek behavioural advice and maybe even have it PTS, rather than passing the problem on to someone else.

There are many perfectly nice dogs which are being PTS daily due to lack of rescue space, why should we take in your dog that has bitten your children/ grandma and "work with it" which means it will take up space with us for months / years, if YOU aren't willing to?

Our insurance doesn't cover us for rehoming "dangerous" dogs.

This is a terrible time for rehoming with so many people having bought inappropriate puppies during Lock Down and now wanting to give them up, so spaces in rescue are few and far between and a LOT of the dogs we are taking in have behavioural issues, so can't " just go to a nice home" - don't do the "rescues shouldn't be so fussy" routine please. We are "fussy" to keep the dogs safe. If I gave everyone a dog which they'd "fallen in love with" from a photo on the Internet, a lot of them would've been returned or PTS by now. Even WE get bitten by some of the dogs in our care and we work with them on a daily basis! I've been working with rescue dogs for over 40 years, and every day's a learning day.

“Stink eye” from Lucky - stayed with us at LL HQ for 11 years as she was “unrehomeable” due to biting incidents. How many dogs could we have rehomed if we hadn’t had her with us????
